Shumo AG – Young Boy Young Girl

At just 14, Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Shumo AG is already making music with plenty of personality. His new single, “Young Boy Young Girl”, is a lively dance-pop song about first crushes, teenage innocence and the funny situations that can come with young love. With catchy melodies, bright guitars, and an upbeat rhythm, he brings a lighthearted story to life in an easy-to-enjoy way. The track opens with Latin-inspired acoustic guitar and soulful vocals, setting a lovely tone before the arrangement builds into something much bigger. Electronic bass, sparkling synths, and punchy percussion add movement, while electric guitar adds another layer of color. The chorus is particularly enjoyable, with its energetic delivery and memorable refrain that quickly gets stuck in your head. Towards the end, the repeated “Young Boy Young Girl” line takes center stage over a driving electronic beat, giving the track a lively finish.

The song has a sweet, funny story behind it. It follows a young boy who has developed a crush on a girl, but his mother isn’t quite convinced of her intentions. She suspects the girl might be trouble, but he sees her as someone special and tries to explain that they were just watching a movie. It is a familiar kind of teenage misunderstanding, and Shumo tells the story with a playful attitude that fits the music perfectly. One of the most impressive details is that Shumo wrote, performed, and produced the song entirely himself. He recorded his vocals in the United States during his visit to Prodigy Camp, where he received a songwriting scholarship. Personally, I really like the combination of acoustic guitar and electronic sounds, which gives the track its own character. The chorus is another highlight for me, with a melody that makes the song especially enjoyable on repeat.

Shumo already has more than 700,000 combined social media followers and has worked with Indonesian act Batas Senja on “Iron Veins”. He has also spent time with Brisbane pop group Sheppard, joining them for studio mentoring and a songwriting session. With more than 25 original songs written and international performances behind him, he’s off to an exciting start as a young independent artist. Follow Shumo AG on social media to keep up with his music and upcoming performances. He is also preparing to perform in Jakarta and Bali between December 18 and 30, bringing his songs to audiences in Indonesia. Give “Young Boy Young Girl” a listen, add it to your playlist, and share it with someone who enjoys cheerful pop songs with catchy choruses and a good sense of humor. Shumo has plenty of musical ideas to explore, and I am looking forward to hearing what he comes up with next.
