Allison Lupton & Craig Werth – The Wonder

Allison Lupton brings people together through folk music on her new single “The Wonder”, a heartfelt song about hope, kindness, and the connection we share as human beings. Co-written and performed with Craig Werth, the track draws on Celtic folk traditions while delivering a message that speaks to life today. At a time when people can seem so divided, its call for unity is a welcome reminder of how much we have in common. The song’s strongest moment comes from its large choir, with dozens of voices joining together to sing, “May we know the wonder of how we all are one.” Hearing so many voices come together gives the words a special meaning. It sounds like an invitation for everyone to take part, with the singers sharing a feeling of hope that reaches beyond the room where the music was recorded.

Werth joins Lupton on lead vocals in the second verse, adding another layer to the performance. The arrangement features his octave mandolin alongside Andrew Collins on mandolin, Shane Cook on fiddle, and Joseph Phillips on stand-up bass. Recorded live at Avondale United Church in Stratford, Ontario, the song has the warmth of musicians playing together in the same space. The traditional instruments and choir work beautifully together, giving the recording a welcoming sound that suits its message. Lupton has spent more than 25 years performing in Canada and abroad. Raised on a dairy farm in Ontario, she grew up surrounded by folk music, church singing, and local Celtic music sessions. Those roots remain an important part of her work, and “The Wonder” shows how she continues to write songs that connect traditional folk sounds with ideas that matter to people today.

I particularly enjoy the way the choir brings everyone into the song, making its message feel shared rather than simply sung to the listener. The fiddle and mandolin also add a lovely folk character that makes the whole performance feel warm and genuine. “The Wonder” is a beautiful addition to Allison Lupton’s catalog and a song worth sharing with others. The live performance video, directed by Michael Fisher, captures the gathering behind the recording and gives viewers another way to enjoy the song. Follow Allison on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to keep up with her music and upcoming performances. You can also listen on Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp. Add “The Wonder” to your playlist, share it with friends, and give it a listen when you need a little reminder of the good that people can create when they come together. With her upcoming album Step Up Molly and launch concerts scheduled for November, there is more from this Canadian folk artist to look forward to.
