Copenhagen brothers Thomas Charlie Pedersen and Daniel Pedersen have been at it since 2007, and with each release, they seem to find a deeper, more confident version of themselves. “Mr. Rubinstein” is their latest single, out October 31st, 2025, on their own Karmanian Records, and it’s the first taste of their upcoming sixth album, “Balancing Act”, arriving February 27th, 2026. The song is built around a real story, a head-on collision between an artist and a critic, two egos that refused to budge. But rather than turning that friction into something loud or combative, Vinyl Floor did the opposite. The track is slow, deliberate, and quietly gripping. Piano opens things up, organ and strings follow, and the whole thing grows into something that feels closer to a film score than a rock song.
Thomas Charlie carries most of the weight here, handling piano, guitar, bass, and lead vocals, while Daniel holds the rhythm together on drums and organ. Bebe Risenfors, known for his work with Tom Waits, brings layers of horns that add grit and depth, while Christian Ellegaard’s string arrangements lend the track its most haunting quality. Recorded at Studio Möllan in Malmö, Sweden, with producer Emil Isaksson, and mixed and mastered by Søren Vestergaard at the Shelter, the whole thing sounds lush without ever feeling overdone. This is the kind of song that doesn’t reveal itself straight away. You need a couple of listens before it fully opens up, and by then, it’s already stuck. That’s a rare quality, and Vinyl Floor pulls it off without making it feel like an effort.
If “Mr. Rubinstein” is setting the tone for “Balancing Act”, February 2026 is going to be worth the wait. Add the track to your playlist, follow Vinyl Floor wherever you stream music, and keep them on your radar. Nearly two decades in, this duo is writing some of the most honest and carefully crafted music of their career, and it would be a shame to miss what’s coming next.
