Pascal Dennis – Blues in the Morning

Pascal Dennis brings humor, personality, and a love of blues to his single “Blues in the Morning”. Inspired by his travels and the many experiences he’s collected along the way, the song has a playful character that makes it a pleasure to listen to. Pascal works as an engineer during the day, but his songwriting gives him another way to share the stories and memories he’s gathered on the road. Producer David Logan deserves credit for the arrangement, which works beautifully with the Crazy Angels band. The musicians bring plenty of character to the recording, giving the song a lovely blues feel. Luca Camerota also delivers excellent guitar work, whose R&B-inspired playing adds a special touch. His guitar parts bring extra flavor to the arrangement, and it’s easy to understand why Pascal wanted to give him special recognition.

There’s also a funny little story behind Luca’s contribution. Pascal asked him how an Italian boy developed such a natural feel for R&B. Luca’s answer was wonderfully simple: “I just play what is sounding okay”. It’s a great response, and it says quite a lot about his relaxed approach to making music. The lyrics are another enjoyable part of the song. Pascal takes listeners on his travels, mentioning places such as Salalah, Bahrain, Toronto, Baltimore, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Cairo, and Melbourne. There are amusing observations along the way, including references to spicy chili, stomach aches, omelets, and quiche Lorraine. These little details give the writing a personal touch, while a hint of heartbreak adds another shade to the story.

I really like the humor in Pascal’s songwriting and the way he turns his travel experiences into an entertaining blues song. Luca’s guitar work is another highlight, adding plenty of character to the recording. “Blues in the Morning” is a fun release from a songwriter with plenty of stories to share. Follow Pascal Dennis to keep up with his music and future releases. I’d also recommend adding this track to your playlist, especially if you enjoy blues with a bit of humor and some lovely guitar playing. Watch the lyric video, share it with fellow blues lovers, and show support for Pascal and the Crazy Angels band.
