Holly Wild – So Annoying

Holly Wild takes one of those thoughts most people would rather keep to themselves and turns it into a fun, sarcastic pop-rock song on “So Annoying”. The Sydney-based artist has found a pretty entertaining way to talk about jealousy, especially that strange kind of envy you can feel toward a friend who seems to have everything figured out. You know the type. They look great, everything seems to work out for them, and they somehow make it all look easy. Rather than taking that feeling too seriously, Wild pokes fun at it. “So Annoying” is full of exaggerated little complaints and petty thoughts, but there is plenty of self-awareness behind them. She knows how ridiculous those feelings can be, and that gives the song its sense of humor.

The music has plenty of bite too. Distorted electric guitar riffs and strong drums give the track a garage-rock feel, while Wild’s spoken-word vocals add a loose, playful quality. As the song builds, her voice gets rougher and more intense, turning all that frustration into a lively burst of energy. I especially enjoyed the attitude in this track. Wild sounds like she is genuinely enjoying the idea, which makes the song easy to connect with. I also like the contrast between the cheeky lyrics and the grittier rock sound.

The video fits the song nicely. Set around street-art locations, it follows Wild and her friend on a casual shopping trip, mixing those relaxed moments with direct shots at the camera. Her exaggerated expressions and sarcastic delivery give the video plenty of personality and make it feel like a visual extension of the song. Wild has been releasing music since 2021 and has worked with names including producer David Arkwright and Australian ARIA chart-topper Jolyon Petch. “So Annoying” arrives ahead of her debut album, “Technicolour”, giving listeners another glimpse at what she has been building toward.

If you like indie-pop and rock with a sense of humor, “So Annoying” is worth adding to your playlist. Follow Holly Wild to keep up with her upcoming music and the release of “Technicolour”, and keep an eye out for her album show at The Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney on October 16. Give the track a listen, add it to your playlist, and stick around for whatever Holly Wild brings next.
