Saila makes a truly infectious debut with her new hyper-pop single “So Far”

When UK artist Sara Strudwick wrote “So Far” four months ago, she wasn’t planning a debut. The song started as something private, a note to herself during a period where she felt lost and unsure. It was meant to be a reminder to stay kind, to acknowledge progress, and to keep moving forward even when things felt unclear.

But she kept returning to it. Each time she needed reassurance, the song was there. Eventually, it stopped feeling like something that should stay hidden. That decision marked the beginning of her new project, Saila, and “So Far” became its first release.

Self-produced and shaped by a love for nostalgic ’70s city pop, the track introduces Saila’s bright, hyper-pop-leaning world with confidence. Sparkling synths glide over crisp drum machines, while layered harmonies soften the edges. There’s a sweetness to the production, but it never feels lightweight. The chorus sticks almost immediately, the kind that loops in your head before you realize it.

Even though it carries an uplifting message, “So Far” doesn’t sound forced or overly polished. There’s sincerity in the way she delivers each line, like she’s still half-speaking to herself. That honesty is what gives the track its momentum.

While this is her first independent release under the Saila name, Strudwick isn’t new to the industry. She’s already built a reputation as a songwriter and recently had a track commissioned for the Marvel film “Eternals.” With “So Far,” she steps fully into the spotlight herself. If this is the tone she’s setting, Saila feels less like a side project and more like the start of something lasting.
