Mila Degray shines in addictive new bubble-grunge track “Two Bridges”

Mila Degray first caught a lot of attention after appearing in Charli xcx’s “Guess” video, where her messy blonde hair had people briefly confusing her with Sky Ferreira. The comparisons make sense on the surface, but once you sit with her music, it’s clear she’s carving out her own lane. Since dropping “Ragdoll” in 2021, Degray has been building a steady run of alt-rock and shoegaze-leaning singles that feel sharp and self-assured. Her latest, “Two Bridges,” might be her strongest yet.

The track arrives ahead of her album “Silver Meteor 98,” named after the train that carried her from Florida to New York two years ago. There’s movement baked into that story, and you can hear it in the song. Rolling guitars, crisp drum hits, and a synth line that slowly stacks up give “Two Bridges” a restless energy. It’s catchy without feeling glossy. There’s grit in it.

Lyrically, she keeps things direct. The song traces the slow realization that a relationship isn’t what she thought it was. Lines like “You call yourself my friend but this isn’t what friends do” land plainly, which makes them hit harder. There’s no dramatic overreach, just someone recognizing they’re being used and deciding not to ignore it.

She’s described the song as one of her most unusual, tied to a chaotic period in New York that even left her with a literal scar shared with a former friend. That backstory adds another layer, but the song stands on its own. It feels honest, a little messy, and fully in control of its emotions.

With earlier releases like “Masculine Charm” and “Adore Her More” already out, “Two Bridges” only raises the anticipation for “Silver Meteor 98.” Degray isn’t riding on comparisons. She’s building something that feels personal and hard to overlook.
