Kadence – Soar Beyond Farther Than You Know

Kadence takes an interesting approach to songwriting on “Soar Beyond Farther Than You Know”, an 18-track album that brings together folk, alternative rock, spoken word, and metal. Released on December 9, 2025, the record combines two earlier projects, “Soar Beyond” and “Farther Than You Know”. The result is a collection of songs that explores personal struggles, relationships, ambition, and the search for a place in the world. The first half, “Soar Beyond”, has a more intimate sound, with acoustic guitar and harmonica helping shape its folk influences. Songs like “Soar” explore the desire to move forward and make something meaningful out of life. “The Jumping Man” takes a more personal route, exploring the complicated idea of home and how family connections shape our sense of belonging. These songs have a reflective quality, giving listeners room to connect with the stories and emotions behind the writing.

Things get heavier in the second half, “Farther Than You Know”, where alternative rock, metal, and spoken word take a more prominent role. “The Obsidian Dance”, featuring Mari Cornell on lead guitar, explores ambition and the desire for power. “Superman” examines the pressure to appear strong and successful, even when the reality behind that image is far more complicated. The change in sound gives the album a different energy while keeping the focus on personal experiences and difficult questions. The record offers plenty of other stories to discover. “Silhouette,” “Quartet,” and “Callback” touch on family conflict, acceptance, and relationships that leave lasting marks. Kadence approaches these subjects with an open, unfiltered writing style that suits the album’s range of sounds. As the project’s main creative force, Kadence handles vocals and several instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, and harmonica, and also handles production, mixing, and mastering.

Personally, I really enjoy the freedom Kadence gives each song, allowing the music to move from gentle acoustic passages to much heavier moments. I also appreciate the personal side of the writing, especially when the songs explore the pressure of growing up, dealing with relationships, and trying to figure out where you belong. “Stay Right Here” offers a softer moment, focusing on love, peace, and the possibility of finding comfort with another person. “Cup of Tea” takes a harder emotional turn, exploring loneliness, exhaustion, and the challenge of getting through hard times. These tracks add some welcome variety and give the album more room to breathe before “The Broken Ending” brings the collection to a close.

“ Soar Beyond Farther Than You Know” is a rewarding listen for anyone who enjoys independent artists willing to explore different sounds and write about real-life experiences. With 18 tracks and several musical directions to discover, there’s plenty to return to on future listens.
