Sorrow Enthroned brings a grim atmosphere to “SOLOMONIC GRIMOIRES-SINGLE”, a release rooted in blackened death metal and old-school death metal. The Connecticut project explores a dark world filled with fallen rulers, ancient powers, bloodshed, and disturbing visions. From the opening lines, the lyrics create an unsettling picture that suits the darker side of extreme metal. The song’s imagery begins with blood covering a dungeon floor before turning to a fallen figure whose reign has come to an end. As the lyrics progress, strange creatures, castle trees, and a ruler losing his golden throne contribute to the sense that the world is falling apart. These images have a medieval-fantasy quality, though the writing takes a much darker turn. Sorrow Enthroned draws on familiar symbols of power and destruction to paint a bleak picture of a kingdom marked by violence and defeat.
The closing lines take the darkness further. Images of colors fading into grey lead into a final reference to loneliness and suicide. This shift gives the lyrics a more personal and disturbing edge, moving away from fallen kingdoms and supernatural imagery toward despair. It leaves the reader with a grim impression that fits the release’s overall character. I like how Sorrow Enthroned commits to the dark imagery here. The lyrics are vivid and unsettling, and the closing passage gives the piece a particularly bleak finish.
For listeners who enjoy blackened death metal and the darker side of old-school extreme metal, “SOLOMONIC GRIMOIRES-SINGLE” is worth checking out.
