Marco Cusato takes a darker turn with his latest single, “They Walked Away”, a gothic rock track built around loss, loneliness, and the difficult moment when people you once trusted are no longer part of your life. Released on September 4, 2026, the song is the second video single connected to his upcoming second solo album. The subject is simple, but it carries plenty of emotion. “They Walked Away” explores the pain left behind when relationships end, and people choose to leave. Cusato gives those feelings plenty of room, pairing them with a dark rock sound that suits the song’s mood. There is a sense of sadness running through the track, but it never becomes overly dramatic.
Cusato has been involved in darker rock and metal for many years. His musical background goes back to Chile’s metal scene in the 1980s, followed by his gothic period in the 1990s. He has since worked with several projects, including The Fallacy and Somberwind, before developing his solo work. The Legend Band now brings that material to life as a full band, with Simon Arcano on bass, Mauricio Monardes on drums, and Rod Cubillos on lead guitar, alongside Cusato on vocals and guitar. I enjoyed how “They Walked Away” maintains its focus on the feeling of being left behind. The darker guitar work and vocal delivery give the song a personality that suits its subject well. For me, it is the emotional side of the track that stays with you after listening.
The video also enhances the atmosphere and offers another way for the song to connect with its story. It is a fitting release as Cusato continues building toward his next solo album. If you enjoy gothic rock, dark metal, and songs that explore the darker side of relationships, give “They Walked Away” a listen. Follow Marco Cusato to keep up with his upcoming music and add the track to your playlist if it finds a place in your rotation. This is a release worth keeping around, especially for those moments when darker rock fits the mood. Following the artist will also give you a chance to hear what comes next as he nears the release of his second solo album.
