His latest project moves into guitar-driven folk and country-pop, bringing together experienced musicians and a sound shaped by years of playing and songwriting. The track has an easygoing feel from the start. Shuffling drums, bright acoustic guitar and expressive playing give it a relaxed country-pop character, while Southwestern and Latin touches add some warmth and personality. The guitar tones have a nostalgic quality, but the Australian vocals and melodies keep the song firmly connected to its Melbourne setting.
Underneath that lighter sound, though, is a song about pain that still feels very real. The guitar work is another highlight, giving the song plenty of character without taking attention away from the story. For me, “This Too Shall Pass” feels like the kind of song that gets better when you let yourself settle into it. There is sadness here, but also a quiet sense that life has to keep going.
