Wine Lips – Projector

Wine Lips are back with “Projector”, the first single from their upcoming fifth album TV Dinner, and it immediately reminds listeners why the Toronto band has become such a respected name in modern garage punk. Built on roaring guitars, pounding drums, and an explosive performance from start to finish, the track captures the raw spirit that has helped the band build a loyal following over the years while introducing an exciting new element. One of the biggest talking points is drummer Aurora Evans stepping into the spotlight as lead vocalist for the first time. Her performance feels completely natural, bringing confidence, grit, and plenty of attitude to a song that never lets up. The lyrics take aim at people who constantly dump their own frustrations and insecurities onto those around them, giving the track a sharp edge that perfectly matches its relentless pace.

The band sounds completely locked in throughout “Projector”. The guitars are drenched in fuzz, the rhythm section drives everything forward with relentless force, and every moment feels packed with energy. There is a raw quality to the recording that works in the song’s favor, allowing every instrument to breathe without losing the chaos that has become part of Wine Lips’ identity. Working once again with longtime collaborator Simon Larochette at The Sugar Shack in London, Ontario, the band chose to preserve the imperfections that make the performance feel genuine and alive. As the opening preview for TV Dinner, “Projector” offers an early look at a record shaped by the pressures of everyday life, including burnout, addiction, doomscrolling, housing struggles, dead-end jobs, and the constant noise of modern living. Wine Lips never allows those subjects to weigh the music down. They answer with loud guitars, high energy, and the kind of fearless attitude that has always defined their sound.

I really enjoyed “Projector”, and I think it is one of the strongest singles Wine Lips have released in quite some time. Aurora Evans’ lead vocal debut adds a fresh spark to the band’s sound, and it left me looking forward to hearing the rest of TV Dinner. If you enjoy loud, honest rock music that refuses to smooth out its rough edges, make sure “Projector” finds a place in your playlist. Wine Lips continue to show why they remain one of Canada’s most exciting independent rock bands, and this single is another great reminder of everything they do well. Be sure to follow the band for news about TV Dinner, keep up with their upcoming releases and live shows, and don’t forget to add “Projector” to your favorite playlists. It is a song that deserves to be played loud, shared with fellow rock fans, and revisited long after the first listen.
